'Your Drawing Nature' Workshop

Your Drawing Nature Drawing & Zine-Making Workshop with Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck

An intimate drawing workshop with artist, writer, and gardener Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck (co-founder of Journal du Thé, founder of The Gardening Drawing Club, and Poetic Pastel) will be held in the light-bathed Yūkari studio space in Helsinki this June.

The workshop begins with a welcome and a warm cup of organic tisane, followed by time to talk about Johanna's love of drawing and her project, The Gardening Drawing Club.
Participants will explore their drawings using colored pencils, following drawing prompts based on plants, flowers, vegetables and vessel observations prepared by Johanna. This workshop is conceptualised for those who have not drawn in a long time and is also suitable for those pursuing a creative career, as it will provide new avenues to play and explore the act of drawing. Through drawing, participants will gain confidence, experience joy, and discover new avenues of exploration.
The session will conclude with hand-making a small art zine of their work, and a time for discussion. All participant will have their drawings and zine to take home.
This workshop is inspired by one of the methodologies used in The Gardening Drawing Club, which Johanna launched in 2021—an initiative offering free arts and horticulture workshops to adults and children in England.

The session will be conducted in English.
Vessels by Yukari, vegetables and locally foraged flowers and foliage will be employed.
This is an intimate workshop with a maximum of 6 participants and Johanna’s first event in Finland.
