Sonomama

Insistent, patterned, and obsessive gestures reveal a body that seeks proficiency through repetition while simultaneously in constant transformation. It's the natural state of the human being based on their singularity. This is the experimental nature of Yukari's work, where the act of making becomes the work, and the final object perpetuates it.

Sonomama, in Japanese, means "as it is." Maintaining the natural state of things can also mean pausing the gesture: "It's fine the way it is." The work cannot be interrupted because it is never finished. The process is not concerned with a static result. It is the spontaneity of daily experiences that allows constant transformation
—the non-permanence of ideas.

The works produced in São Paulo for this individual exhibition have rhythm and graphic connotations in the repetition of shapes, lines, and gestures, as well as in the sequence and objects' installation. Yukari’s ceramics, fabric, and paper works activate the space in dialogue with the furniture made with steel from Edel-Stein studio. The viewer is invited to participate by contemplating, associating, or using the works on display.
