Nari Tea
Limited edition of a Yūkari ceramic tea cup and a special blend of Nari green tea HOSHIKO.
Parting from the theme of daydreaming as one of Yukari's main explorative themes, this time she focused on the subconscious and how the body can connect through repetitive gestures, which manifests in her signature scalloped pattern that we can see on the foot of the cup.
The subtle vanilla glaze forms unique amorphous patterns on top of the speckled clay. It reminds of the hazy Helsinki nights, where the stars peak through faint clouds dancing across the sky like an aurora’s little child, which explains the name of the blend HOSHIKO aka “Child of the Stars”.
For HOSHIKO, Nari wanted to make a tea that is deliciously easy to brew. They combined shaded Kabuse and Gyokuro from Takaki’s farm in Hoshino Village, which provides the fruity and sweet umami, along with Fukamushi Sencha from Shizuoka which gives the tea body and long aftertaste - all characteristics that shine through in a cold brew. However it tastes great brewed hot as well. While cold it’s a cohesive and refreshing experience, when brewed hot this blend’s complexity truly shines with a multi-stage taste/mouthfeel sensation.
Notes of ochazuke, pine needle and grape.
Label visuals by Yasmin Klein.
